Retail inventory is a moving estimate
Sales, returns, damaged units, misplaced products and delayed system updates can all separate a displayed quantity from what is actually purchasable.
Source and time determine confidence
A retailer-controlled observation from minutes ago is stronger than an undated repost. Every inventory claim should keep its source type and timestamp attached.
Pickup eligibility is separate evidence
An item can appear in stock while pickup is unavailable, or pickup may disappear before checkout. Stock, pickup and completed purchase are separate states.
False precision is a warning
Repeating an exact count without its source makes weak evidence look stronger. It is better to label availability unconfirmed than to manufacture certainty.
